“Teachers” do not exist.
There are only people who help you learn.

If you don’t want to learn, no one can teach you anything.

Don’t worry about being a great designer. We just don’t need that many great designers. But if you can be a little bit better at design than you would have been otherwise, then you’ll do better no matter where you end up.

Students are mistaken to believe we only want them to learn facts and figures. There’s a whole way of thinking in design; understanding that is far more important than the “book knowledge.” Book knowledge can always be found again… in a book! But the mentality and perspective of design – that can neither be taught (directly) nor forgotten once learned.

If you learn design deeply, it will change your brain, creating new patterns of cognition that will help you see the world in a new and useful way.
